On September 4, 1986, former Metro Manila Governor Joey Lina approved the recommendation of then Officer In-Charge Mayor Brigido Simon Jr. to rename the school to Ernesto Rondon High School in memory of the late illustrious journalist Ernesto Rondon, who in his lifetime resided in Project 6.
For thirty (30) years, Ernesto Rondon High School has evolved and has made a mark as one of the performing public high schools in Quezon City . Ernesto Rondon High School has been winning in various athletic and skills competitions. Scholastic achievements are also noteworthy in the field of journalism, English, Science and Mathematics.
At present, the school has 120 teaching and non-teaching personnel with a total of 3,988 students. With the dynamic leadership of the school administrators and the support of its committed and dedicated teachers, Ernesto Rondon High School has been transformed to provide the best education in order to improve the quality of life of its students. Last school year, A Special Science Class was put up which enriched curriculum in Reading and Language, Science and Technology and Mathematics. This is just one of the intervention programs of the school to improve students’ achievements.
