School's History

The Ernesto Rondon High School is located in Project 6, Quezon City. It is found along Road 3 near Mindanao Avenue. Project 6 is a residential and commercial area where banks and business establishments abound.

Ernesto Rondon High School was established in 1966 when San Francisco High School (formerly Don Mariano Marcos High School) extended an annex in Barangay Pag-asa to respond to the educational needs of the people. A two-year level school was first established; the first and second year levels with five (5) sections each housed in a rented 5-bedroom house as its very first campus. In August 1968, the city government converted Pag-asa annex into an independent school to become Pag-asa High School.

It was in 1977 when a lot was donated by the Quezon City Government as market site in Project 6 but was converted into a school site. Because of its new location, Pag-asa High School has become Project 6 High School since then.

On September 4, 1986, former Metro Manila Governor Joey Lina approved the recommendation of then Officer In-Charge Mayor Brigido Simon Jr. to rename the school to Ernesto Rondon High School in memory of the late illustrious journalist Ernesto Rondon, who in his lifetime resided in Project 6.

For thirty (30) years, Ernesto Rondon High School has evolved and has made a mark as one of the performing public high schools in Quezon City. Ernesto Rondon High School has been winning in various athletic and skills competitions. Scholastic achievements are also noteworthy in the field of journalism, English, Science and Mathematics.

At present, the school has 120 teaching and non-teaching personnel with a total of 3,988 students. With the dynamic leadership of the school administrators and the support of its committed and dedicated teachers, Ernesto Rondon High School has been transformed to provide the best education in order to improve the quality of life of its students. Last school year, A Special Science Class was put up which enriched curriculum in Reading and Language, Science and Technology and Mathematics. This is just one of the intervention programs of the school to improve students’ achievements.

Ernesto Rondon High School envisions itself to be a caring institution of learning that prepares students to be servant leaders of tomorrow. It is committed to develop in every student the passion to learn, confidence to lead and humility to serve. In order to realize the vision and mission of the school, a School Governing Council and PTA were organized this school year to support the operational leadership of the school head in the school improvement process.

To date, Ernesto Rondon High School is a qualifier to the International Science Fair Competition to be held in Los Angeles, California sometime in April, 2011.
